About Me

My name is Darius Faison. I was born and raised in the Prince George’s County area of Maryland. From an early age, I was interested in arts and technology. I have played drums ever since I was able to stand and started learning about computers shortly after. I primarily play the drum set but know and play other percussion instruments as well. I have played in performances at schools, churches, summer camps, and with friends. I currently play drum set in the pep band at Drexel University and continue to practice on my own.

According to my parents, one of my first words were “Control, Alt, Delete.” Ever since then, my interests in computers and technology has grown. I have always gone out of my way to learn about new gadgets and software that came out or was about to hit the market. I would watch press conferences by tech companies and read articles detailing each component in it. I also like to tinker with my own electronics. From hardware changes to running custom software enhancements, I would do what I could to push the limits of any gadget that I own. My fascination with technology is what got me interested in the film and video industry.

I have been focusing on video work since the age of 11. My major focus from the beginning was video editing. I started working at my church as a production assistant and learning how to edit. I quickly caught on and started doing freelance work focusing on cinematography, sound, and editing. I have made a few films in high school that have been entered and won prizes at different film festivals in the area. For senior year of high school, I picked up an internship at a local television station working in the production department. I got hands on experience in a studio setting and made a concussion PSA for them that they aired. They hired me part time for the summer and I continued to help make content such as a children’s show. I also did some IT work while I was there. I am currently studying Film and Video at Drexel University to learn more about the industry and take the steps to become a professional video editor.
